If they provided the FBI with the complete images of various DNC and DNCC servers, they potentially have access to the files and emails on those servers. (If the servers weren't set up correctly which is entirely possible considering their technical competence)

The system image may or may not contain all the metadata they would need to determine if it was indeed hacked. They keep failing to mention that the wikeleaks emails did contain the metadata that showed the download speeds used to gather it was done internally and copied to a usp drive or usb thumb drive but was not collected over the internet. Just a small fact that proves those documents came from an insider at the DNC.

there was no ip on the metadata. You can't just transfer data over the internet without an IP.

Since imaging only copies files of the OS, it has no data from the BIOS where any hacker would install rootkit changes that are not detected in virus scans. Not actually inspecting the server to inspect the BIOS is not what the FBI would do if attempting to try someone for hacking a system.

No. This was an investigation into a possible hacking that was done to the DNC. This wasn't an investigation about wrongdoing by the DNC.

If you are not being charged with a crime, it is unreasonable seizure to take your stuff.

What happened here is that they asked the DNC for their cooperation so that they could identify hackers. In a situation like that, imaging is done.

I don’t think Crowdstrike imaging is usable for evidence, they would lack a chain of custody on the evidence as well as having some potential bias in collecting it.

Crowdstrike may have a close relationship with the government, but they are not sworn officers of the law, thus there is no real chain of custody. This is something that a competent defense attorney would seize on and the question of if such evidence would be presentable in court is a real and difficult issue for Mueller's team if they ever have to try the case.
Computer images can be altered, have data added or removed, so a chain of custody would be necessary if the evidence was challenged.

I'm assuming that they were duplicates because of CC and BC in the header that were sent to other people in the email chain.
