I hate to throw fresh meat out there but... imagine it is one week before the November election when the SEALs go into action again rescuing hostages and killing another top terrorist just in time to sway the electorate.

Now, imagine that those hostages had been killed and the operators who went in to get them were ambushed and captured.....all of which could have occurred.

It cuts both ways.
Here's a good little short (3:35) video covering some of the preparation and intelligence-gathering required for such an operation:

Well, listening to the some of the administration's people I'm hearing that they decided to go in now because of the health of the woman. Now that tells me that they knew where these people were before this and the order wasn't given to get them. She got sick and so the order was given. I have to ask, why wasn't the order given when they found them instead of waiting?

Outstanding!
Now, let's reward them by cutting their budget, retirement benefits and having them carry their own insurance after retirement; all of which has been suggested by a particular regime.

Maybe it was because all of the intelligence upon which the mission was planned wasn't available at the same time they became aware of the hostages location? Maybe we didn't have a team of operators nearby? Maybe the logistics and support associated with a mission like this takes some time to put together? Maybe because the decision was made that the risk associated with any mission like this was outweighed by the concerns about the hostage's health....which they just found out about?

When I clicked on CaptainMidnight's link for the video I got the video and a huge 2" x 2" campaign add with a link by Obama asking for money.

Go SEALS!

If the circumstances were the same, and Obama approved the mission, even I would support it. Rescuing American citizens (and their cellmates) is well within the Constitutional authority of the President, as far as I can tell.

President Obama did a good thing. I wish his decision making was always this good.

I too support this mission but just using the words of White House officials it seems that they knew more earlier than they want to admit. Just listening to the words being spoken.

Comedian Bill Mahr had a wonderful line about this daring rescue.

Supposedly, he related the Seal Team 6 story to Governor Janet Brewer after she "greeted" him and then said "You want to point that finger at me again?"
