the Moody Blues in Sugarland

They are on their 50th anniversary tour of their 1967 album.

How can a band continue to play their old songs ? How many times must have they heard and played them ?
Doobie Brothers & Steely Dan , and Earth Wind & Fire are also coming to Sugarland Great Music never get old my friend

Cause they want to get paid. They can play whatever they want on their own time, but on stage, they have to play what people want to hear.
What music made them popular dipshit?
Another great thread. Well done

Fuck the Doobie Bros. Their farewell tour around '83, they played four songs. A total of 44 minutes. Bullshit concert.

This thread is more about the band members themselves having to play the same songs over and over and over again. They must be sick of it, except for the money.

That is what made the Beatles the exceptional band. They evolved, changed their music, and stopped. If not, like all these, they would be on tour playing "I want to hold your hand" over and over.

I loved ELO through Discovery, when Lynne decided to ditch the violin player (Kaminski) and the 2 cello players (McDowell and Gale). ELO was originally about mixing rock and classic. The first few albums were raw, then starting with El Dorado they were finding their music was a mix of rock and strings. Face the Music started a string of three great alums with FTM, A New World Record, which had 1 throw away song and was a true work of art, then the famous Out of the Blue. After that he fired the string players and we had a mix of classic and rock playing a disco album in Discovery, 2 barely decent albums, but not great albums in Time and Secret Messages. Then Kelly Groucutt was cut loose and Balance of Power was a joke, except for Calling America. Lynne got off on other things such as producing albums for Tom Petty, McCartney and Harrison, and others. His 2001 album Zoom was OK and his latest Alone in the Universe has a couple of nice tunes and when he plays live, he again has 2 cellos and 1 violin.

Y'all may laugh, but I enjoyed Air Supply earlier in the year at the same casino, and they were awesome! Honestly one of the best concerts I've been to, voices pretty much untouched by time, old and new songs incorporated, Graham walking and playing his guitar among the audience, just a grand memory.

Sat in for Ann Wilson of Heart at the Nugget as well, and that performance was okay, not great. She can't hit those prolonged high notes anymore, so she used a lot of tunes borrowed from other artists. Guess I'm a purist; I want the singers to do their own material, and whether classic or recent doesn't matter as long as it is THEIRS.

We are losing more beloved entertainers every year, drats, bats, cats chasing rats! So it goes when Father Time and his buddy the Grim Reaper come to collect, the wretches.

You cannot get sick of the Moody Blues.
Have you ever been to one of their concerts?
Their music is classic and readily identifiable unlike much of the crap that has come since their creative years.
Other people can play the flute and he has not toured with them for a while.
Why would a performer get tired of playing the music that made them wealthy especially if it is great music.
I saw them once when they had an orchestra playing with them here in Houston.
Do you think Sinatra got tired of singing the same songs? This band should \have been in the R&R hall of fame long before half of the people in it were.

Not to mention they are able to charge $ 9,000 per ticket for a front row seat at places like the Coachella music festival

I doubt they are charging that, more like the promoter. But hey, there are people that will pay a premium for most anything. Hell just look as what some of these ladies charge for a CBJ.
