What does UTR mean?

Sir Lancehernot's Avatar
I know what it used to mean, or what I thought it used to mean: A UTR girl didn't advertise and wasn't reviewed publicly. You found out about her through PMs, personal referrals, and private e-mail groups. By and large, aside from perhaps an occasional mention in a forum comment, UTR girls didn't have a public presence or published means of contact.

But I've seen several reviews lately with "UTR" in the subject line, and, when I open the posts, I see links to Backpage ads or showcases, or e-mail addresses, or phone numbers.

Has the definition changed? Did I misunderstand the concept? Is the term being misused? Someone with a Backpage ad wouldn't appear to be interested in flying under the radar, and stealth mode seems to be obviated by the public posting of contact information.

Right now to me UTR means a gal who posts ads very infrequently maybe 1 or 2 every six months doesnt post at all on forums and just stays out of the way. More than likely she is established has enough clients and when she chooses will entertain the idea or notion of adding clients but being very thourough and dilligent in screening.

Just my 2 cents lol

UTR means under the radar. A provider has usually gone low volume with her best clients. Sometimes necessary because of stalkers or they are just tired of the bullshit from some of the hobbyists.

But that brings up another question: By what term should we refer to ladies who operate only by referrals, who do not advertise and who request no reviews?

Well I knew that I wasn't a UTR type, so think I watch this and learn what to do if I ever decide to change my style

I always thought "Under the Radar" meant a girl broke off all public contact and only kept in touch with her best/repeat clients until whatever sent her under clears up.

Folks have certainly started overusing the term in recent months. I still hold to the old definition: a girl that doesn't advertise, relying on word-of-mouth referrals and repeat clients.
I think this is an issue better discussed in the sandbox.

None of the UTR girls....want to risk their name being mentioned....and/or being "advertised" as UTR.

It's kind of a sacred subject....and we should respect that.

I don't think that taking it to the Sandbox would accomplish anything. Unless I misunderstand the setup of the board, the Sandbox is no less public than this forum. No one is mentioning names, and the fact that such women exist is hardly a secret.

The point of the original post, in case I failed to make it clear, was to ask whether the term UTR is being misused in some of the reviews that have been posted. I think it is; at least one respondent disagrees, while at least one other appears to agree that it is.

Historically, UTR meant a lady did not run ads, did not allow reviews and relied upon a group of guys via word of mouth. Never under any circumstances did she allow any pics to be posted, allow reviews, nor did she have a webpage, showcase, etc. The pics with the face blurred were not even an option under the classic rules a true UTR gal. A true UTR gal follows this path for concern with being "discovered" by her hubby, ex-hubby, boyfriend, or family member.

The definition has been stretched significantly in the past year or so as many gals think UTR means no face pics or phone number posted. That is "not" UTR by any means. If you have pics even with the face blurred you risk someone recognizing you, so no benefit by calling yourself UTR. You think a current or even former SO will not recognize your boobs or backside? Really....

UTR generally means she will not see you or me.

I think that the problem is that abbreviations in this hobby vary greatly from person to person. For instance, try to get a universal definition of GFE or PSE. Each person will tell you exactly what it means.....to him. That is unrelated to another person's definition. Many will argue that he is correct, everyone else is wrong.

As with others, I have my opinion/definition. UTR to me means no mention publicly, ads, reviews, etc. Of my top 3, two have been totally UTR for quite some time. The other is currently UTR for specific reasons. That may continue or change. I don't publicly discuss any of them at this time. For me UTR is under the radar, not on the edge of the radar.

UTR, however, used to have real meaning. It's now being confused with something else, like "low volume". Or maybe women have just latched onto it as a marketing term, since everyone likes the idea of seeing/being a UTR provider.
Here's a crazy way I've seen it used: By men who don't want to supply screening info!

Some men write to me and tell me they prefer to "stay under the radar" so will not share anything, and end it with "I hope you understand."
