Eater Magazine has a new article out this morning.

The 14 Best BBQ in KC

I've been in 13 of the 14 of the author's list at least a few times each, so I claim my points below are valid.
Apologies to Buck Tui in OP, for not visiting yet.

So my point is, what do you all think about the ranking of these bbq places that the article author has? Most she's spot on.

I think Q39 should be a few steps higher though as even she admits his burnt ends are preternaturally tender.

The Jone's Sisters still sell out, so get there early. Yes it's their rib tips.
When I'm over on the wrong side of the state line, lunch time, it's the sisters, or Slap's, or Joe's.

Chef J: Briskets. He's at the old stockyards, so what's more to say?

Jack Stack: The salted ham, and, of course, the cheesy corn.

Night Goat: Sunday BBQ brunch (after other Sunday brunch activities).

However, the author has a couple mistakes stating that some of the places are new. 2019 is not "new" and clearly 2014 is not. And she gives way to many folks credit for brisket. I'm not going to point out the two I disagree with.

In closing, I have two slabs of 20 lbs each of brisket for July 3rd and it's all pre-booked.
And yes, I already know the best tips in the BBQ game.

I do like Slaps. I have stood in line before opening plenty of times. I prefer the honey based sweet sauce myself. As for the Polish sausage, I just do not care for it cooked that way. Just boiled with sauerkraut is the only way I eat it.
I'm not going to rank them. If all I did was go to one a week, I'd never tire of the rotation.

Hounddog,
Once a week is slacking.
How about 2 or 3 a week.
The fun part is most of the time I get clients to pick up the tab.
Surprisingly, my cholesterol is still good.

TH,
Zillion percent correct on Slap's honey sause. I would be banned, not for life, but till hell froze over, if I mentioned ingredients.

Dee,
Texas has bbq??
Ok, Clinton, I hit the one in the converted gas station just off 7hwy. But, we usually hit the butcher Powell Meat at the north end of town and take that to the grills we have at the lake.
Dallas, you must have been to Hannah Bananas in Clinton.

Country Petro (break time)
on highway 7 before you get to Clinton if youre coming from KC--they make bbq sandwiches n baked taters

Yes the Petro shop.
When coming north with boat or horse trailer we hit that to fill up.
Human and the recycled dinosaur fluid burner.
Hard no on the Buck Tui from me. Made a trip there last week hoping for some kink of LuLu's meets Joes marriage but drinks were weak, and the food just average. Menu looks really interesting (the pineapple ribs in the photo are perfect example). But upon arrival taste was a letdown, smoke flavor seemed to be more infused than natural and overall it was almost like it had been in a warmer all day. Tried the butterscotch wings as well, no hint of sweet or butterscotch. As with all things BBQ, i am sure they have fans but with the other options here, i wouldn't go back
