Sayonara

In 1957 when I was 12 years old I saw the film "Sayonara" about a US airman that falls in love with a Japanese girl. That girl was Miiko Taka who was 31 and so beautiful. She was born in Seattle to emigrant parents in 1925. I fell in love with her right along with Marlon Brando. That experience left me with a life long appreciation of Asian beauty.

I looked her up and to my surprise she is still alive, age 97. living in Las Vegas. Here is a link to her pic and bio.

Great movie. A very young and fit Marlon Brando (before he ballooned later in life), James Garner, Red Buttons, and of course Miiko

She also appeared in the 70's miniseries Shogun.
