Hot Springs

I'm considering stopping in Hot Springs when I leave LR. Is the downtown area a safe and convenient area to stay?

Downtown Hot Springs is relatively safe not much is going on during the week at night. Daytime there's the bathhouses and art galleries. There's a decent Cigar Shop. Oaklawn casino and racetrack is there. Live horse racing starts back in December.
