Was thinking about getting a casino hotel too and doing some gambling this weekend. Which would you recommend? I have some harrahs points but seems like that place is sort of dead and in need of renovation.
As for restaurants, Crazy Olive's is good for casual dining (the chicken fried chicken is outstanding), the steakhouse is very good and, while I'm usually not a big fan of buffets, theirs is quite good. Have a fun time!!!
I like the Argosy, but find it hard to win there, particularly craps due to long hard scrabble tables. Its appearance is the most Vegas-like in the area followed by Hollywood which is also run by the Argosy people. It's similarly hard to win there, but for the opposite reason--short bouncy tables. You want your dice to bounce around as little as possible. As such, I like Harrah's to play craps. Smaller tables with fair bounce tops. You can win. The hotel there is nice, but is tied in somehow with the casino ventilation because cigarette smoke is at least mildly present even in non-smoking rooms in noticeable concentrations. I won't stay there as a result.
