smokers, gamblers, and the Super Bowl
Guesses about the connection accepted until Friday, after which the connection will be revealed
The connection is the Minneapolis public contribution to the stadium is 400 million, paid for (supposedly) by a tax on smokers and pull tab gamblers. So we have them to thank.
Only problem so far is the gambling receipts are less than 10% of the amount forecasted when the stadium was being proposed and built. Who gets to guarantee it if there is no money - the citizens.
If you had a business, wouldn't you like to have the public fund some of your facilities ? The NFL and the NCAA have the cities, colleges, and athletes all over a barrel.
