Suicide in the military has been a growing problem for years. War weariness is taking hold. It is very difficult situation to be in for extended periods of time with an extreme amount of pressure. They are under constant scrutiny from the media and their superiors, all while having to stay on guard against everyone since the threats come from men women and children. They can only respond after an attack has been initiated and that is often too late.

I agree it is sad. That we continue to involve ourselves with no viable strategy is even worse.

How many of those soldiers were responsible, law-abiding citizens, Whiny? I do find PTSD a horrible cost of war. This was a problem exacerbated by the Bush Administration's abandonment of veterans benefits, health care and mental health services. and it's long been an issue, going back to WWI.
