Clear history

I have a laptop that i am selling and I want to clear the history on it and pics. It not the best shape laptopbut it does the job. as far as getting online and writing a paper for school. The cd drive is out on it but I know you can get usb cd drive I think that is what it is called. So my question is where do I go on the laptop to clear everything on it. Before I sell it
Step one. Wipe your stuff. Step a) delete EVERYTHING in My Documents. Step b) do a defragmentation. I'll walk you through that if needed. Step two. Go into your browser and delete your history, your cookies, your cache, your images, your <etc>. Basically anything and everything your browser offers to delete. Step three. If you've installed any particular software that you might not want anyone to see, uninstall it. Hit me again if you need help. Step six. Let me think about it. I have always used the alternative strategy.

Alternate strategy. Step one. Reinstall the OS from scratch. Step two. Defrag the disk. Step three. Install any service pack(s). Step four. Install today's security updates. Step five. There is no step five.

Usually when new operating system comes out I save what I want and then format c; and then load new software. Works better than trying to update the operating system.

Just my 2 cents.
