Even though it would be futile, someone needs to impress upon President Trump that we just don't do that.

Actually, we do do that. After every war except Vietnam there has been a parade to welcome back the servicemen and say "well done" to them. We even did it for the First Gulf War. This time though we have not. You could say that the war is not finished but Barack Obama said it was...so where is the parade? A couple of things come to mind;
Trump is playing another Jedi mind game on the left. They'll get all bent out of shape, run out and make stupid statements attacking the idea of the military, and he takes advantage of them being over extended.
Trump is serious and I don't see a problem because I don't see this as a prelude to a military takeover like the lame brains from the left. I do see this as an expenditure of money that could be put towards veterans or the survivors of the fallen. But hey, $ 10 million (that latest quote I read about) is blown by the US government every single day of the year on frivolous things.
If there is to be a parade it would be nice to include every active duty person and veteran of not only the two Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, and the Iranian Hostage Crisis as well. That would be a huge parade and DC would rake in the cash.
WTF is understandably desperate and deranged.
And since the military ARE security for our country, why do we need to pay out millions to provide "Extra security" for them?
If this parade were to happen this year,do the dimbocrats even know what this year marks? Hint: the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Falling in November. Right around election time. The left likely won't even see the problem with trashing the military at this time.

Why would Liberals begin in 2018 to see the value in this country having a strong military? That's the same reason they don't want anyone to have firearms. They don't want to use them so they don't want anyone else to have one.

Trump wants to keep up with Putin and little rocket man and have a parade. Let him then get him some toy soldiers to play with.

I did not read where the military stated or anyone in the article stated it was "wasteful." The major complaint by reporters not the military is that training exercises would have to be rescheduled. Who cares?

My personal opinion is that we are not in need of a parade, do not think a parade would be wasteful. If the President is attempting to boast national morale, pride, and camaraderie, then I see his purpose. I further think there are other ways to accomplish this. A display of military might is not a display of community, kindness, nor freedom. I remember the great pride I felt in my nation when the first space shuttle launched (not a display of aggression nor power but of ingenuity, dedication and knowledge). We can build national pride through great accomplishment in exploration, academics, and technological advances. Just my two cents

Maybe some of the tax money used for crap like this could help fund his wall project.
