The Most Depressing Day of the Year: let's honor it

LynetteMarie's Avatar
SO today is the last Monday of January, which is traditionally termed "Blue Monday." (Honestly, I just learned about this today on the morning news, but apparently it's a...well...tradition.)

In spite of my wonderful day, I would like to take this day into consideration and take a moment to be blue here.

If there is a piece of art, music, your own "blue" story that you'd like to share, feel free to do it here!

I am sharing a tune from my youth that will easily make you a bit blue if you listen. I was so, so young and I am thankful that musicians like these had the gift to affect so many, even at a pre-pubescent level.

In fact, this tune is so emotionally revved I really really want you to listen to it and connect with some sort of emotion not so attached to your ego.

Not saying you're all about your ego, of course.

Just hoping you can feel your heart for a second........

LynetteMarie, good choice. The Cure was a big part of my youth as well.

This is my blue song lately

Never a dull moment at our house - weird, but never dull.

Anyways, this one has been getting me bawling for 30 yrs:

It was a tough choice since I have been a fan of groups like The Smiths/Joy division/Sisters of mercy/The Cure for a long time, but I feel that Nine inch nails Hurt wins for saddest song I love to listen to

Didn't Johnny Cash do a cover of that?

I was the ultimate "Cure" fan in junior high...depressing songs seem to cheer me up for some reason, go figure?
