Decriminalize Prostitution NYS

New York state has a bill in committee that would fully decriminalize prostitution statewide, for the first time in the U.S. The decriminalization model would remove all charges for both sex traffickers and their victims, similar to the laws in Belgium and New Zealand.

All good but they also want to increase the penalties for paying for sex. Huh?

Plain and simple the law makes it so if the girl wants to press charges against a "buyer" (such as someone trying to traffic her) she can do so without facing any charges herself.
None of this will happen. They first proposed this legislation in NYS several years ago. Of course it should be legal to pay for consensual sex between adults. Why would it be free? No other services are free. Are haircuts free, oil changes? But it is still a political hot potato, part of the remnants of the puritanical views towards sex from our nation's past. Sex is still viewed with suspicion, like it is something wicked, evil or deviant, instead of just normal adult activity.

Either way, it's none of the government's business. We don't need morality police.
