Amelia and I were wondering if you all knew of a good spot to have a good BBQ/Picnic/swimming/Tanning day we dont really mind the drive... just need to know somewhere that is good clean fun

I have heard that S Padre is a good place to go... but that is a bit too far to go.... so if you know of anywhere other than there.... maybe in Austin or something... that would be great.

Thank you

Just make sure to read the reports to see if there is still water in any of the local possibly former water holes.
My favorite quick spot is prince solms park in NB- nice grass to lay out on, clean water, plenty of eye candy on the weekends, be prepared the water stays super cold! And you can always get or bring a tube and ride the chute for some extra fun!

Is Hippie Hollow by Austin still around? If so you can do all that & completely naked too if you want. Not that I'd know.... I've just heard.

I went to hippie hollow a few years back and it was ok. I just don't get off sitting staring out at the lake and as I turn my head finding somd guys dick staring at me at an eye level. Too many guys, not enough females.

Not much lush grass either, its almost all limestone outcropping, and since then the water level has dropped considerably.

There is a little boat hole just off of FM 78 and FM 46 or 775 just outside New Braunfels. I believe it is called the boat hole. Had plenty of grass, on the Guadalupe, and was a quiet place.

If there are any military guys among your acquaintances, you may be able to talk them into taking you or signing you in to one of the two parks at Canyon Lake. Good parks with easy water access, clean facilities.

Guadalupe State park on hwy 46 and Blanco Road use to be very nice, but with low river levels I'm not so sure of current conditions.

Good luck.

Well worth the trip.

Or Chalk Bluff might be nice over by Uvalde.

For a clothing optional place fairly close by there is riverside ranch. Not only is it clothing optional it is also part of the swinger lifestyle. www.riversideranch.net for more info.

For a non-clothing optional area I prefer Bergheim Campground. It is just north of 46. Nice campground area and if you want they rent tubes, and canoes/kayaks. The float in the tubes is only a few miles, but the time depends upon the flow. If you google the campground it will also give a number to call and find out info about river height/flow and they might know water temp etc. don't think they really do tubes tho until around Memorial Day. But could be wrong on that one. Call and find out.
