Mitt Romney to the '02 Olympians, "You didn't win that medal".

"You Olympians, however, know you didn’t get here solely on your own power. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities. All right!"

I'm beginning to think Romney wouldn't be all that bad an alternative to Obama. Provided you go by the real Mitt Romney and not the pandering Mitt Romney.

If you believe what Romney or Obama say, you must live in an alternate reality.

It's a silly comparison. Obama made his observation that people don't build their own businesses as a way of legitimizing the confiscation of their wealth. Romney is not proposing that the Olympians should be made to share their medals with others because they didn't really earn them.

All of us are helped in life by parents, friends, teachers and mentors. Some of us are able to build successful businesses and wealth partly because of being helped by others. Some of us receive similar assistance and fail to become wealthy because of lack of ambition or laziness.

Those who take advantage of the opportunites that life presents, do not deserve to have their wealth confiscated, to be redistributed to other less industrious people. Not everyone is entitled to the same standard of living. Wealth has to be tied to merit; otherwise there is no incentive to produce, and we all become poor.

We need a system that offers equal opportunity not equal outcome.

Romney really said that? Good lord!. And he is our alternative to Obama?

Unbelievable. Maybe Romney won't buy us the time we need. I'm starting to think it's hopeless.

I can't find much difference between what Obama said, and what Romney said. The only difference might be that Obama would use government to back up his statement more quickly than Romney would, but who can even be sure of that?

Romney is still slightly better choice between the two, but the gap is narrowing.

Jesus. Romney v. Obama. I demand a recount.

I think Gary Johnson is on the ballot in all 50 (or 57) states. I know he is in Kansas.

The legitimate right to keep what you produce, has been at heart of the national conversation on this controversy from the beginning.
