If some of you in the San Antonio or South Texas area encountered problems finding websites on Tuesday 22 June starting between midnight and 12:30 AM I found out that Time Warner began having DNS server issues at that time. No cause was given and no time table for restoration was given.

Thank goodness for my Verizon mobile wi-fi hot spot.

At the bottom right are the new DNS servers you can use.

http://www.opendns.com/support/videos/ for video tutorials on how to sign up. Once you sign up it'll give you a walk-through on how to change your DNS options. I've used it since day one. It's much faster than my ISPs DNS and it has a ton more features than the ISP DNS. It's just a simple matter of logging into your router and setting these IP addresses as your DNS.

During the whole Conficker worm business, they also helped by blocking the sites that the worm was phoning home to.

tip: add two more DNS server entries into your TCPIP stack.

Verizon: 4.2.2.2
google: 8.8.8.8

The issues appear to have been resolved.

And thank you for the other information. Good to know!
