I prefer to stay out of hotel circle myself. Theyre are plenty of simple and honestly priced hotels right outside of downtown. Mission Bay is lovely for a little more $

Agreed, I do not like hotel circle myself.

I avoid hotel circle and the entire Mission Valley area.

Del Mar is a nice area

Avoid hotel circle or mission valley! Downtown is OK, or near Beach.
