There are a couple very good restaurants in Jackson. It's been a while since I lived there, but I do have some favorites:

Japanese - Sakura Bhana (something like that) in LeFleur Plaza on the east frontage road for I-55 just north of Northside Drive

American - Nick's may be the best restaurant in Jackson with a great master chef - on Lakeland Drive on the south side not too far from I-55.

Burgers - there's a great hamburger place on North Capitol St, but I can't think of the name of it - ask someone local.

Enjoy!

Berry's on HWY 49 just south is a great place...
Nick's has moved onto Old Canton Road just north of Lakeland Dr. in the Fondren neighborhood. In the same neighborhood is Walker's Drive-Inn which I think probably has the best food in Jacksdn. Also the Parlor Market downtown on Capitol treet has begun to get a solid Rep.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
Tico's Steakhouse
The Mayflower has wonderful seafood and a funky fifties feel

Bravo or Amerigo's for Italian or just stay in the Fondren area after going to Nick's or Walker's and eat at Que Sera for New Orleans style, Brent's Drug Store for an old fashioned soda fountain and lunch counter, or Fat Sumo for sushi. Can't go wrong at any of them.

Damn, I'm going to save this thread for when I'm in Jackson.

How about Crechele's? When I lived up there, it was on US-80 west of town. Great steaks in a old time diner atmosphere.

Crechele's is good but to me it's mostly for the funky atmosphere. I guess a bonus is that you can cruise Hwy 80 for streetwalkers while your in the neighborhood

The Eggplant Ely - in my Top Ten dishes ever. Parker House around the corner is good too.

Wow... begin from Jackson I thought I would give you some suggestions but all of the above suggestions are spot on. Chrecele's also was some good redfish with a worchester's sauce.

So here is my list which is just a repeat of the others! LOL

Fine dining:
Nicks
Parlor Market
Cajun:
Que Sera
Italian
Bravo's (personally I like some of their Italian dishes better than Amerigo's)
Amerigo's (All around the best Italian in Jackson, terrific Wine List)
Baiggi's (new in Ridgeland, chain... surprisingly really good.. best Bruchetta around!!)
Seafood
Walker's Drive Inn (redfish to die for!... also Nick's and and Parlor do great fish!)
Crechale's (great old fashion version of redfish)
Burgers:
Roosters'
Beatty St Grocery

Just a few thoughts!

Smooch!
