Hmmmm. I missed the last 50 or so years of GOP platforms in there. Nice try Kayla (although it's a bit hard to understand exactly what your post is trying to say) and it's always amusing to watch the repukes try, with a straight face, to act like they give a shit about anybody except white people. Actually, they don't give a shit about anybody except rich white people but you folks are just too slow to catch on to that one.

Best indicator for recent support by the GOP for civil rights would be the number of African-Americans in the GOP. I feel certain that those dozen or so black republicans in the US whole-heartedly agree with you. Others, maybe not so much.

About 40% of the time I vote Republican if they are moderate and not hyper religious. I don't have problems with Republicans individually, but I, for the life of me, cannot understand why anyone that isn't rich would be a hard core Republican. They are the party of the rich and of fear. First it was McCarthyism, then veiled racism and now religion that the movers and shakers are using to fool the unwashed masses into voting for them hard core as a block. I'm not down on Republicans, but you have to know what kind of animal it is. Same for the Democrats actually.

Im a republican because I believe that people should take care of themselves as much as they are able. Im not talking about the elderly or children but capable adults. I dont think the governement is cut out to fix most problems. The government is good and I mean really good at one thing. Exerting force. Thats it. In everything else they do its wildly ineffiecent. This really applies to the force too from a cost standpoint but the result is typically what you desire. I dont feel like Democrats value personal responsibility the same way I do. Which isnt to say that they dont care about it I just think they have a different view of it than I do.

To the comment that if your racist your a Republican I would argue that you dont listen enough to liberals and or understand that racism isnt just treating someone badly because of their race its treating them differently because of their race. It also doesnt just apply to minorities. Sheila Jackson Lee from Houston is a very outspoken racist residing right in the middle of the Democratic party and is not, to my knowledge considered a fringe liberal by her own party.
