Israel responds to Roe decision

JERUSALEM — Israel on Monday eased its regulations on abortion access in what the country’s health minister said was a response to last week’s “sad” U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

The new rules, approved by a parliamentary committee, grant women access to abortion pills through the country’s universal health system and remove a longstanding requirement that women appear physically before a special committee before they are permitted to terminate a pregnancy.

The decision came after the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday stripped away women’s constitutional protections for abortion, a fundamental and deeply personal change for Americans’ lives after nearly a half-century under Roe v. Wade. The decision has triggered protests across the U.S. and set the stage for a wave of litigation.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, who heads the small liberal Meretz party, said the U.S. decision had turned back the clock for women’s rights.

“A woman has a complete right over her body,” he said. “The SCOTUS decision to negate a woman’s right to make a choice over her own body is a sad process of women’s repression, setting the leader of the free and liberal world a hundred years back.”

Abortion is widely available in Israel and far less controversial than in the U.S., but women still don’t automatically have the right to the procedure.

Under the new rules, Israeli women will now have access to abortion pills at their local health clinics. They also will no longer need to physically appear before an abortion approval committee, and the application form will be shortened and simplified.

Abortion approval committees have been heavily criticized in Israel over the years. While most requests are approved, women have objected to being subject to bureaucracy and a humiliating and intrusive process. Women also can face long wait times before they can be seen by a committee.

Instead, the process will be digitized, and a requirement to meet with a social worker will become optional. The new regulations are set to take effect in three months.

“The reform we approved today will create a simpler process, that is more respectful, advanced, and maintains a woman’s right to make decisions over her own body – a basic human right,” Horowitz said.
Who gives a fuck about what Isreal things about America.
Killing an innocent unborn child is NOT A HUMAN RIGHT,
but I don't expect you to comprehend that.

Did I miss it? Was there anything in that article that spoke to "surgical abortions" and at what point they may be restrictive? They only talk about pills not surgery and the fact that they have "restrictions" at all would outrage many, many Democrats who demand no restrictions at all up to delivery.

What do you think Israel would say about that, the "right" to abort a baby just prior to birth or in the case of the most extreme abortionist's, the mother can take a few minutes after birth to look the baby over and then decide to "terminate" the life of the baby.

The reason the Congress couldn't "codify" the right to an abortion is because the Democrats insisted on going further than Roe and further than Casey which set viability lines. They want the law to have no restrictions and the mother and the doctor can do anything they want with that baby even after delivery.

No country in the world outside China, North Korea and a few others, goes that far as some Dem's want.

What the Dem's wanted would never pass in Israel. There's your headline.

Nobody cares if you’re gay. It’s a good thing to conserve energy. We shouldn’t pollute the environment.

The radical left interprets this as:

Cross dressers should compete against girls, swing their dicks around in the girls room and read stories to kindergartners about how it’s ok to cut off your cock and tits. Destroy the energy industry so nobody can afford to drive their cars or buy groceries. Ban beef and eat insects because cow farts are going to set the planet ablaze.

Nobody with firing synapses agrees with their extremist agenda, yet they press on like it’s a mandate.

If you understand the goals, all the events you're seeing make perfect sense. The biggest threat to Americans health, safety, and well-being right now is their own Federal government.
This guy obviously has not read the SCOTUS decision nor does he understand anything about The United States Constitution.

Or he is just stupid.

So, the OP lies again. Sounds like members of the government have issues but all of Israel like the OP says??? Hardly think that is true.

I didn't say any of that. And why do you assume I am in agreement with what was written ?
