Where would you look?

This is directed to the veterans of the hobby. Before this wonderful website where would you find the upscale providers? I can understand cruising the strip for a little fun but what about getting a hold of the pros? Remember gerry grant from that news channel? I would always wonder how he got a hold of a provider before the net. Thanks
