Slaps BBQ. It’s just west of downtown on central.

They have a 2nd place near Corporate Woods in OP
Slaps is in KCK, just off 7th & Central. They are generally just open for lunch, because when they run out of BBQ for the day, they are done. But very good.

Q39 is on 39th, west of Southwest Trafficway, east of KU Med. One of my favs... their chicken wing appetizer is a meal in itself.

Another recommendation is Hawg Jaw BBQ. It’s off of 9 Highway just north across the river from downtown, and around the corner from Big Rip Brewing, which is a good place for a beer, if so inclined.

Best BBQ, though, may be my backyard... Although it has nothing to do with the COVID thing, though, I may ask that you wear a mask. It’s actually a replica mask of my neighbor, so that you won’t draw suspicion from my SO! Ha!

Safe travels, Jaydalee! We’ll watch for your arrival. Huggzzz and lixxx...
Woodyard BBQ is good out of the way place...

Anyplace that serves BBQ that is fancy, and expensive: it is not real.

This stupid place the doesn't even try to slow cook BBQ, which makes it a poor imitation.

The dead give-away for BBQ is if the guests have on suits and ties. Nope, not a chance. BBQ is not fine dining. It is just good food. The food is the only way to discuss BBQ - which should taste great.

If you walk in and see folks with just jeans and a few bib overalls: then you can investigate, instead of walking out the door.

The best "Joint" for BBQ in KS is Arthur Bryants BBQ. Not the best sauce in town, but the sliced meat is tender and great. Rosedale's BBQ has the best ribs.

Neither can be called fine dining, but then we are suppose to be looking for a "JOINT".

Woodyard BBQ had the best lamb BBQ ever, but not enough KC people asked for it: they took it off the menu.
Smokin’ Guns BBQ north of the river on Swift is a good one to try.
