Post a beautiful and artsy pic

Hello!

I was wondering about interesting photos (paintings) or anything that triggers your mind and senses. Care to share impressions?

Here is what I recently found ....I have no idea who the artist is....

Emigrants Crossing The Plains 1867

This might not be your cup of tea but it did it for me. I think this is a painting that needs to be viewed in person. This painting glows, the lighting and presentation is very well done.I stood in front of it for 30 min and tried to put myself in their shoes. The thought of these people leaving their home crossing the ocean, then to be faced with the crossing of the great American west, I wonder how many people could do that today.

Vincent Van Gogh had a catastrophic love life. He was attracted to women in trouble, thinking he could help them...

Nina, I love this thread, what a great idea!

one of my simple favorites

I like greek mythology, and Boris Vallejo artwork. Below is Boris's rendering of when Zeus appears as a swan to seduce (some say rape) Leda. I say Zeus was polyamourous and we should not be so hard on him, LOL.

Beautiful!!!!! Oh wow! Thanks to all for the wonderful contributions!!! <3 <3 <3

Here is still one of my favourite paintings. I had the chance to recently see the tryptich live in Madrid! Oh wow!

Not exactly classical art in the Michelangelo sense but an iconic poster none the less of the 70's perhaps only surpassed in popularity by the one of Farrah. It represented, for me at least, the order that we looked for in the chaos of the times. Similar to now actually. Funny thing was you could look at this poster 1000 times and always see something new.
