What kind of restaurants? Tony's and Al's Steakhouse are two highly regarded St. Louis restaurants. They are landmarks.

I doubt they do hotel rankings (but you never know...) but wouldn't The Riverfront Times do an annual "best of STL" guide that includes local restaurants? That might make a good start to your research.

OTOH, if you're just looking for a "pull out the stops and damn the expense" hoity-toity formal restaurant meal, I've never heard a bad word said about Tony's. And if you're being taken there by a client who's paying, that's even better. (bcg firmly believes no food tastes as good as the food someone else pays for. )

There are a few places I like in St Charles down on the cobble streets.. But hey I'm From a Texas too.. Texas Road House.. lol
I really enjoy food from a place downtown called Caleco's. Caleco's is open late (till 3am) athough I don't suggest going unarmed and alone at that time of night.

They have big fish tanks and a train that goes around the top of the bar. There is a game on the TV's if you are into sports. It's in walking distance of several hotels.

Additional restaurants are nearby from chain restaurants to high end steakhouses.
I recently went to The Crossing, and it was delicious! I'll have to check out a few of the other places listed though...

If they're still in business I suspect they've kept the quality up. I may have to visit the next time I'm in town.
