Bar's in St. Louis

I'm planning a trip to St Louis to visit family and would like to get out and have a drink or two. Can someone recommend some nice bars?

What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Like any big city, St. Louis has tons of bars. Do you want quiet? Live music? Irish pub? German beer garden? Upscale? Neighborhood corner bar?
Hard to beat Soulard, got a little bit of everything.
If that doesn't work your not to far from Washington Ave.
Lobby bar at the Ritz in Clayton. Perfect.

You might want to take a look at Esquire:

Esquire declares St. Louis its 'Bar City of the Year'

The story lists a few STL bars that helped STL earn that distinction.

For "upscale", I would recommend
* Three-sixty (360) in Hilton Downtown http://www.360-stl.com
* Eclipse in Moonrise hotel - great rooftop bar as well www.eclipsestlouis.com
* Fox and Hound in Cheshire www.cheshirestl.com
* Cielo at Four Seasons www.cielostlouis.com

Not necessarily "upscale", but they are VERY NICE and are my favorites
* Planter's House http://plantershousestl.com/
* Vin De Set (around the corner from Planter's House and has great rooftop bar) vindeset.com/
* Taste http://tastebarstl.com/
Stella Blues Morganford
