Actually if I remember the story correctly, the guy modeled her after a relative that recently died. The original goal was to help her grieving family deal with the sudden, tragic loss. Apparently his funding or a grant fell through, and he was able to find a sponsor for the rest of the project provided it had an adult entertainment application.

I do not know if it still looks like the the original prototype, but I find it a bit morbid and creepy.
