Best suburbs in Chicago?

Contemplating a visit to the Chicago area soon...

Wondering what the best suburbs to stay in are?

This will be a first time visit for me! Huge area, totally lost.

Looking for conveniently located upscale areas with great shopping and dining!

All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Schaumburg is quite popular.

I can add Oak Brook and Rosemont

Oak brook for sure, rosemont, Schaumburg is very far up north away from the city. Downtown is usually a great area as well.
