Denver may be my next stop! Where can I stay?

Gonna make my first trip to Denver next month and am scanning hotels now. What areas are nice, and what do I avoid?

DTC, Downtown Denver- Stay out of Lakewood

Don't forget about Colorado Springs! I'll certainly make an appointment if you come down :-).

Downtown Denver: You need a hotel with Free parking.
Stay away from: Lakewood, Aurora
