Car dealer welches on hole in one offer

VitaMan's Avatar
At an Arkansas golf tournament a pick up truck was a prize for a hole in one.

Someone made it. The car dealer is refusing to give him the truck. They are saying it was only a promotion. How low can you go ?

He is sueing the car dealer.

Reckon they might be better-off giving the fellow
the "promised" truck... That's the way contests work.

Court costs, barrister fees, and maybe punitive
damages may ALL be in the offouring now.
Along with a BAD stain on BOTH the car dealership
and the links club.

Thanks fer posting this! ...

I suggest everyone on Eccie call Morrilton Country Club in Little Rock Arkansas, and tell them they will never play golf there.

The closest I ever got to a hole-in-one (I think), was on a hole with the same promotion... New Car if you ace the hole. You had to pay $1, me and my friend each did. We had to wait a few minutes to tee off, guys still on the green. Meanwhile the 2 guys playing behind us sauntered up to the tee, to wait behind us.

I hit a 4 iron, 176 yard hole. The ball was barely struck before the other guys whooped and hollered. I wondered why the excitement, I had forgot about the hole-in-one deal. Anyway, the ball was all over the pin, as they say. Hit about 3 feet short of the pin, and rolled 5 feet past.

And no, I didn't Birdie, God Damn it. The putt was straight downhill, I barely tapped it, and it rolled 2 feet past. The laws of physics precluded a Birdie.

I did get a brand new sleeve of 3 golf balls, for hitting the green.
... No, they didn't give him the truck yet.
The lawsuit is still in the works. ... We'll see what happens.

Your hole-in-one story is funny, mate.
But I got a hole-in-zero once... Right through the lion's mouth
and out his backside... rolled all the way to the back of
the box and into the special red cup... And the sign mentioned
that if you sink in the red cup - "one stroke off score"...

So me hole-in-one was a hole-in-zero! ...

I used to work for a group of car dealerships a number of years ago and have offered vehicles as hole in 1 prizes. There's an insurance policy you can buy to cover the cost of the vehicle if somebody wins it. I bet somebody at the dealership forgot to buy the policy, so now they don't want to give up the vehicle.
... Or they "gambled and lost" - instead of paying the $$$$
money for the policy, they "took their chances" nobody would win.
And NOW they're in trouble.

Not sure IF the golfing place and the car dealership plan
to split the difference - but they owe the fellow who won
the value of the truck. ...

Come to mention, I'm rather stunned they haven't seen
the logic in just giving the bloke the truck...
They surely could be looking at punitive damages in-addition
to barrister's fees besides the cost of the vehicle.
