The 2d Amendment is not about your hunting rights, it is about protection from a king or dictatorial government bulling you as a populace. The British had state of the art muskets and rifles and our Congress of the People wanted to make sure we had the same. We should not be degrading the conversation about whether we can own a gun with clips but whether we can have the state of the art weapons to fight a government that try's to take our rights and suppress us.
The police are hired hands to help an educated populace control an unruly mob or devote a determined investigation to solve a complicated, long term criminal investigation. They will never be able to protect us in a bar fight or a robbery on the street but maybe hunt them down after the fact.
By the way, I own a shotgun for hunting doves and quail and rifle for deer. I keep a tire tester by the bed for intruders because I don't want to shoot through the walls and hit a family member.
