I know that this is a different slant, but brings back memories....

I the early eighties there used to be a gentleman in the neighborhood that raised rabbits for human consumpsion for $2.00 each cleaned and ready for the grill.
Ha ha ha ha!!! "The sanctuary takes in rabbits that have been abandoned, injured, dropped off at shelters or set loose in the wild, where they are ill equipped to survive their 8 to 12 of a normal life span."

Are you freaking serious?! Rabbits may live that long in captivity, but in the wild they are nothing more than predator food. That is why they reproduce so quickly, because their odds of surviving in the wild are slim.

I'm not for animal cruelty, but get a clue.

We had rabbits when I lived in Mexico. They were our number one source of protein. They were pretty much free range in our property. My family decided to build on the property, so we had to get rid of them. We invited neighbors to help kill and prepare them for consumption.

Six hours and about 100 dead rabbits later, we were done. That was the last time I touched rabbit meat.
