Points Count Is Rising!

As long as I've been a member on aspd and here, I've received more points these last 4 months than I EVER have in 8 years total! Whats goin on lately? I personally think its funny that grown ass people are tattling on one another, myself included. If I get points I retort back to the mod like, "whoa, hold up, what about that idiot?!!" I didnt even know what the rtm button was until this year lol!

Anyway, whats y'alls input on this? Do you think we, as adults, are incapable of rectifying our differences without a mod interjecting warnings and/or points? This hobby is proving to be more competitive than sports!

And, I got more points on here than I do my dang driving record! Hehe

Oops! Sorry Ken, I edited my post at the same time you replied.

Also don't get me wrong, I am not saying the staff should rule with an iron fist, and I am all for as much information as possible being offered to members on what happened to threads/posts etc without the need for a member or members to make a thread, send a PM, or ask in a post what happened to this or that thread. There is a give and take relationship and regardless of how some may feel about one mod or another the staff in general is here (or at least the idea is that staff is here) to protect membership as a whole.

To answer you... No. Without the mods this board would be like a country that has declared Martial Law lol.

I'll be excited for October 25 to get here when I have a few points drop off!

I wish moderators would leave threads open. I think closing them is a bullshit move, it doesn't allow for those who are willing to follow the rules to participate in the discussion. If anything, leave the darn thread open, and give a warning and then points to those who can't follow the rules. By pointing users, it seems threads might have a chance at staying open. I think that's my biggest qualm. When a thread gets closed, no one can participate, when what should happen is specific users who are bashing or hijacking should just get a few points.

Moderators, volunteers, can only do their best. I think for the most part they do a great job enforcing the rules of the board, with the exception of closing threads... I thought the owners of this board wanted threads to die a natural death.

While the Mods may have been heavy handed with points recently, I don't think it's not without just cause.

There has been ALOT of bullshit and drama on this board for a lot of this year, some of which is serious and involves real life info.
As Ken mentioned, the number 1 aim of Mods on this board is to enforce the rules designed to achieve two things - keep providers and hobbyists protected as much as possible, and keep threads on track so this site works the way it's intended - an open exchange of information in a fun interesting manner that allows all to be informed and communicate with others in the hobbying community without fear or prejudice. Dishing out points is a way Mods do that. If you don't like being given points, don't do stuff that will leave you subject to receiving them.

One important thing I've learned in my professional career is what you for one, you must do for all. If you discipline one person one way and another person a different way, all that does is bring mistrust and resentment.
Unfortunately on here, as in real life, a few loud voices that try to skirt the rules ruins it for all. The whole idea of moderating is to be neutral and make decisions not based on the person, but rather what's best for the site. Since this board has been going off the rails somewhat in recent times, being heavy handed with points across the board is for the boards long term benefit.

I don't mean to be mean to people but I also got points for just careless mistakes

Some people on here are just plain knuckleheads (Mexmex comes to mind). Others are negative and mean spirited (Noah Scape). Sure, we can ignore them, but I think the board is a better place once they are shown the door. We all know the rules. If you are getting pointed, perhaps you need to step back and take a day or two off. If you are going to get stressed out over what happens on ECCIE, I would say your priorities are misplaced.

Oh please...winning point on this thread "If you get stressed on Eccie...your priorities are misplaced

Because some one disagrees with ya...and is even a smart ass about it. What does that really mean?
Are you going to let him/her ruin your Eccie moment?? Is that smartass's keyboard really stronger than your keyboard? Is that smartass truly going to come thru your computer screen?

Do you really feel the need to hit the RTM button??? I mean come on, this really really is not junior high

Or do you just ignore the smartass...not let him/her take control, I mean come on...he/she just a smart ass. You're not going to let them get the upper hand by effecting your time on Eccie..right???

And god forbid...do you actually go ahead and give him/her a taste of their own medicine, and post right back at them. Ok, I see where there would be many who would feel...totally not worth my time. Ignore or go to another thread is your friend. You may not like that stuff...totally cool. There are others who don't share your opinion.
And remember it's your opinion, which you have every right too. Just like there are others who don't share your opinion....they also have their right to, as well.

Meanwhile while those of you, with complete rights, disdain those threads...there were major views and large posts on those. There were those who completely enjoy viewing and playing in those threads.

And I'm not talking about the racist stuff...or any of the nuclear stuff. Wrong, Wrong, wrong

So what happen during those few days we didn't have Mods....ok,ok there was some nonsense. And I understand, there of those that can't stand that stuff....however some times I wonder, how did some of those types, with the dislike, find out how bad some of that stuff got....things that make you go hmmmm!

And sorry...no the No 1 purpose of the Mods is not to enforce the rules. First off, St Chris did not establish rules, he established guidelines. And he does want those guidelines to get way over used, thus banning members in such a way to affect his cash flow. I'm sure he's a good businessman.

And yes, threads with drama, do in fact create lots of traffic...another thing a good businessman would want to see happening on his internet site.

It continues to amaze me, how many consider disagreements to be "creating drama".

There are some, like Kshunter who have said there are some of us who enjoy Eccie for entertainment value. May I say...HELL YES! I don't know a thing about Facebook Twitter, Fritter, etc. I don't even have a cell phone...and have no plans on getting one. And when that occasional horrible day arises that I actually need to
have to set an alarm in the morning. I ain't using no digital clock. Got my good old wind-up clock, never has disappointed me in years.

But yes...I don luv me some Eccie time. Won't say that it is 100% entertainment...but I got no shame in saying, there are nights I find it to be way better than anything on cable TV.

Now, I will admit, for me personally...it seems that the Mods have settle back alittle.

But when I see that growler even got points I think....wow. Growler's postings seem to be amongst the nicest, non-brown noising, level headed poster amongst us!

And heck, he's had a few "come on vk" postings...and actually, I even agreed with him...once or twice, lol
But please don't let growler know this...after all, I'm sure I've been labeled as "one of those smartasses"...can't let my reputation slip away!!!

For those of you, who are still reading this stuff...what the heck is wrong with you?????

I, of course, have much more nonsense to say...but must leave you now. It's happy tea hour!!!!
