Interesting site....

Not a question nor do I have a problem.

I just noticed something on a GOOGLE search I had not seen before.

I was searching something related to "pussy" and at the bottom of the search, it said:
In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.

Has anyone ever seen that comment in RED in any of their searches before? I didn't know we could lodge complaints. LOL

So I went to the web site for more info.
I think I'll bookmark that for future reference.
It just looks interesting.
I've seen it on some of my searches but never clicked the link.....

Because of the money it costs them (or record labels with album downloads), they're a bit more active when it comes to filing a DMCA complaint. The same process is followed for Youtube to remove videos that infringe on copyrights (though their content matching system has reduced that).

So if you Google "kittens" you won't see any DMCA notes on Google, but if you search "Lady Gaga download" you'll see a bunch of them. Chilling Effects will list the website addresses of the infringing pages.

There are easier ways to get a site to take down copyrighted stuff if it's just photos or text, but that's probably not the case with some of the sites that mostly provide downloads.
