Visiting austin this weekend. What is there to do?

Hi there ladies and gents,

I'm visiting Austin tomorrow through Saturday and I would like to know what are some good places to shop, eat, party and explore. I've never been to Austin but I've heard that It's one awesome place. I'm looking forward to the experience.

Please chime in.

The Domain is a nice place to walk around, shop and even have lunch/dinner. I looked at your pics and I would love to meet you but I'm leaving town this weekend. Maybe next time.
:-( Thank you for helping me. When are you leaving Austin?
If you like live music, downtown has a lot of venues. You can check out the Austin Chronicle either online or the paper at any local restuarant for shows.

Tonight, there are a lot of good bands playing. I just got back from a good acoustic venue for dinner.

Young college kids tend to flock toward east 6th st.
I prefer warehouse district (4th/5th near lavaca) or west 6th.

In the daytime, if it's hot, you can visit Barton Springs pool to cool off.
Kayak or canoe Lady Bird downtown in Zilker park.
The greenbelt off 360/mopac have trails to hike or bike.
There's also Lake Travis parks, like Windy Point.
Jogging at around Lady Bird downtown.

Domain, 2nd street, & outlet malls (prime has locations in Round Rock or San Marcos) are some places to shop.

The Domain in the Arboretum area is located in northwest austin, hwy 183 and Loop 1. Great boutique shopping and many fine restaurants. The Oasis is a restaurant located overlooking Lake Travis for some wonder views of the lake.

The Sixth Street area downtown is an experience in itself, although the college crowd is back in town and it can get quite crowded.

South Congress south of the Congress bridge has many ecclectic boutique shops and restaurants easy to walk the blocks. Gueros restaurant has great Mexican food.

The Continental Club on South Congress is a fantastic hole in the wall club with great acts nightly.

Hope you have a successful visit and a chance to see this fun city at the same time.

The Austin Hot Sauce Festival is this Sun at Waterloo Park. It would be a good place to hang out. Food, music..Austin weirdness. Would be a good idea of what Austin is like..Here is the link.

It really depends on what you like. The town will be pretty active this weekend since all the UT students are back for the fall semester. To check on where to go based on your preferences, try skimming these websites:
