Is it illegal to waste LE's time in a known sting?

I love messing with people and oh how much fun I think it would be to mess with LE. If you know that you are walking into a sting can you mess with them?
I'm thinking
1. Make the call
2. Don't talk about sex. Just "the escort experience" those words
3. Show up
4. Walk in
5. Pick option
A> Stare at them. Don't speak. Just keep looking at them for a whole hour. Then walk out
B> Tell them you find someone tying your shoes to be erotic. Take off your shoes and hand them to her (cop) and ask her to tie and untie your shoes while you warm up then you can discuss the rate for the rest. This would make them think they got you if they just tie the shoe enough. Proceed to have them do this for the hour.
C> Ask them creepy questions
D> Treat them like a therapist. Cry if you can do so convincingly.
E> Milk of Magnesia. Their bathroom. The whole hour. Leave the door open but request that they stay out.
6. Use cellphone to call offsite recording system so that you are covered from framing.
The list could go on and on. Could they actually arrest you for anything?
We have a few known cop numbers in the area so it would be pretty easy to set up and I'm not really worried about being exposed.

If you show up at a sting in Dallas, you will be arrested. Always. Nothing is ever recorded. They electronically monitor the conversation in the other room, but they don’t record it. It will be your word against 5 police officers.

If I’ve offended anybody, you know my number.

Probably the best day to try your, um, "campaign" might be 4-1-11.

That's also my birthday! April Fool!

No kidding, if you plan far enough ahead, starting tomorrow, you'll have plenty of time to

-- arrange bail bond(s)

-- get a divorce attorney (if you have a traditional s.o.)

-- get the company public relations people geared up to react beyond their traditional "no comment"

-- get the company human resources people to prepare your "golden parachute" (not to be confused with the "golden whatever" you might get during the sting, or afterward)

-- arrange for a buddy to retrieve your vehicle from the "in-call" before it is either towed or impounded

-- con at least one or two local TV stations to cover the "event."

Best of luck in your venture!

I think you went about it very well. Hilarious..
I mean, I don't think much would happen. They were trying to set you up - how were you supposed to know? lol.

Review it.

Could they arrest you? Yes. Now can they make the charge stick in court? maybe, you say they say. The problem for you from then on is that you now have a NCIC record that will follow you. Is that worth a story to tell at parties?

From my very limited experience, LE is usually very humorless if they perceive that someone is being a smart ass or trying to jack with them. I predict that if the OP were to try what he proposed, that he would soon find himself down at Lew Sterrit getting his picture taken. Oh, he might get released after a while if the D. A.'s office decides not to charge him but the cops would have made their point by then.

Then again if the cops are in a particularly foul mood, the OP might get special treatment like this.

As far as your idea, FrancoBob...while inherently funny....it's not entirely practical.

True Story... I know a girl that showed up to a sting a couple of months back. She didn't discuss anything sexual prior to or during the meeting, didn't accept the money when they attempted to hand it to her...she even verbally denied the acceptance of it so loudly, she knew it would be on the 'recorder.' Little did she know, it's really common for them to "lose the evidence" in circumstances like that. Who'd have thought? Their verbal offer and physical attempt to give her money put her on guard immediately. She never removed any clothing. She never made any offer of physical contact or actual physical contact with the officer. She made small talk, mentally starting to plan her moment of departure...and her departure was exactly what was going through her mind when they came busting in through the adjoining door.

Of course, that's not what they said happened in the police report or in court.

And who do you think the judge believed? Even with no physical evidence?

Now, I do get appointment requests from 'hobbyists' that I highly suspect are cops. I love to make the appointment and not show up. I'm usually running 'late' on purpose...and make excuses to stall for more time until.......I don't show up. Sometimes, I try to reschedule...for the next day or two. I hope they're not setting up another sting just for little old me!

I figure it's fun, and they can't arrest someone else while they're waiting to arrest you. As long as they're wasting taxpayer dollars, I will do my part to help.

There's not really a whole lot they can do...except move you higher up on their priority list of targets. Which, ironically, gives you more opportunities to repeat the joke...

The key is to never be in the same physical location with them at the same time. They won't have an opportunity to lie and say this or that happened....if you were never there to begin with.

Now I know why you stood me up!!!!! And I was so excited about little ole you, and had such a letdown.

Just kiddin' . . . except about the exciting part!

francobob's idea is hilarious, but am afraid it would backfire.

Wonder what would happen if an off duty cop showed up at the sting. I knew of a deputy that used to show up in uniform at a working girl's apartment same day every week. Stayed about an hour.
If I was to do this then my own offsite recording would be necessary (I design telephony systems for a living so I know how all that works pretty well) so covering my ass from getting into a "He said/Dickhead cop said" scenario wouldn't be bad. I could even get a good recording of the call without breaking laws.
Seeing as I have my own personal PBX at home I just set my hold music to interrupt occasionally with "thank you for calling company x. calls may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance" During the first minute of my call into the sting number I would just say "I'm sorry I have a call on the other line let me put you on hold for just a sec." They get some music and the marketing/cya notice" and assume that dumb ol me is calling from my work number. When the message begins playing I begin recording then come back to the call.
So really all of my bases would be covered (I think).
So if I'm understanding this thread then I'm looking at 2 possibly 3 consequences
1. Arrest - then charges dropped
2. Public humiliation - This turns back on them when I release the recordings of them tying and untying shoes for an hour. Plus I don't really care what people think and have no wife/SO to worry about.
3. I may get beat up by the cops which could potentially lead to a payday for me.
