Backpage getting more bad news on CNN

Right now Anderson Cooper is doing an interview regarding BACKPAGE and a pimp who kidnapped a young girl and beat her, subjecting her to sex slavery and posting her ad on Backpage. " Sex, Lies, and Backpage."

Nothing new I suppose.

Oh I'm watching it right now!
Hey, like most men on here (and providers), I deplore the kind of treatment this girl got (if in fact the story is true) but to ban all backpage ads just because an infinitesimal percentage of things like this happen is ludicrous.....and oh so American.

If Ford produces 1500 cars a year that cause accidents, should all Ford sales be banned?

Well it's not illegal to sell cars but I get what you're saying.
Lazy couch potato americans think that backpage causes this and banning backpage will get rid of it.

But young girls being forced/drugged/pimped into prostitution has always been there. It just happens on the streets or in back alley deals for much less money and to a rougher crowd.

But hey, ban backpage, keep prostitution on the streets where everyone is exposed to the public.

Anyone see the CNN special about Susan Austin, the madam of the Mustang and Wild Horse Canyon Ranch? That lady is something else. I won't go into details but she is one unscrupulous lady.
I have a neighbor she is around 25 she has been getting pimp out by guess what an ex cop that is white. He has been pimping her out for like 10 yrs and her dad is a preacher. I am not talking about a girl from Dallas but from a small town. A girl can be done wrong anywhere it dont matter where the ads are found at.
Shutting down site has proven to not be a deal killer for the pimps and sex workers. So Google will add a few hundred thousand searches per minute once bp is banned.
I'll have to find that on youtube!

I saw on msnbc (?) about some group that wants to make bp ladies prove their ages.
More controversy over Backpage in the news again today. Trafficking ring in Iowa busted by feds, linked to guess who...BP. ABC news also reported this month on a man charged in the murders of 4 women. He used BP to target his victims. If BP is taken down, something else will replace it; just like craigslist escort ads. At this point, I am more concerned about LE using BP to run sting operations. I do not advertise on BP nor will I ever....My safety and that of my "friends" is not worth the risk that BP presents. That said: Be very careful everyone...Stay safe!

BTW they now have an alert at the beginning when you are posting on BP, to call 211 if you are being exploited. I see this as beneficial.

Once again, I hate to assume but, if a lady is a grown woman I would think she would get away from this situation. I understand she probably is accustomed to this lifestyle, hence me thinking its a mentality which over time has been ingrained in her. This is obviously all she knows and its sad. I still can't help but think she could get away now.

Also, on the subject of BP not being safe to post: If you know how to screen you know how to avoid trouble. You might have to weed through a few but there are many great gents on BP. They are so desperately looking for a legit companion, that they most of the time become regulars and very grateful/generous when you turn them onto ECCIE.

I would also like to add that I have no problem with BP requiring age verification as other great advertising sites like EROS. However, if they required this they would be less likely to catch the predators.
