Does anyone really believe the entry age is 12 to 14. That is a made up bull shit stat. The statement that prostitutes are initiated into the industry via child rape is also irresponsible. These idiots simply don't get the difference between what we do (2 consenting adults look for fun) and the world of human trafficking.

I've never once had a date with a provider where she was "forced" into the date. All my encounters have been with women who were willing participants.

Cpalmson, I am with you on that 'age 12-14' statistic claimed by the crusader without any cited source. All I bring as evidence to the contrary are anecdotes, but the handful of woman I have seen who also talked about their entry into the profession described it as occuring in their adult years. Some in/after college, some in late 20's or early 30s usually following divorce or other financial issues. None of this talk was very detailed, but none said "oh I started at age 13..." Of course, these stories are anecdotes, they reflect a severe sample selection based on my tastes, they reflect women who are escorts not streetwalkers, these women may not want to admit they started so early, etc., etc. But I just do not believe the '12-14' claim is accurate for 'most' or even many providers.

The above is a study of prostitution in Ireland, a survey of providers. (No idea why it is in a site called drugsandalcohol.) The average age started working is far above 12-14 (see below). The main reason given for starting is financial problems. None of this will surprise most ofus.

BTW, just because I am interested, of 84 surveyed, 36 are married or cohabiting, and another 27 have a boyfriend/girlfriend. Seems that this was the subject of various prior threads.
