The summer months ...

I would like to start a discussion on working and playing during the summer.

Generally, ladies will say that it's slower during the summer months and clients will tell me that they get busy with vacations, family obligations, etc.

Does the summer months change your personal messing around habits? Do the ladies here tend to curb their travel plans as a result of it being summer?

being the Man Slut i am, my playing is pretty much even keel year round. for vacations, i seldom ever take off for more than a few days at a time. in the area i'm in, i think there are actually more ladies traveling through during the summer, maybe taking working vacations them selves.
Being single the only things that affect my playing are my work schedule, which is onerous at times and my budget which seems to get squeezed more every time I turn around.

I see it slow down in Nola during july/august and september...thats when i try to travel a little more....

as far as vacation....every day is a vaCATION FOR ME{LOL}

GOOD QUESTION mISS E !!!
Great question...Personally I stay busy but than I also travel as well...and like Dallas everyday is a vacation!!!! Life is what you make of it
Here in Philly, with it being so cold, people tend to be more out going in the warmer months. Me included! The only time during the warm month it gets slow are the holidays...4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day. But thats ok because I'm busy on those days too!

I never thought about this before but looking back, I realize I've always stepped up my activity during the summer. Not sure why.

My hobbying is definitely less frequent during the summer.

My hobbying is determined strictly by time and money. Between my work and traveling and finding enough spare cash to enjoy the hobby, time of year has no impact on me. Just not enough of either especially when I find a beautiful lady that really appeals to me and is within meeting distance.

I'm sure there are some geographies that for tourism reasons have specific seasonalities, but for the rest of us I'll suggest there is very little seasonality in this sport.

The only "downtime" I would see is from Thanksgiving thru the 1st of the year what with guys having family and other obligations and for some budgetary issues.

I say this having worked across a number of businesses where there really isn't much of a seasonality: people will talk about a "peak season" or conversely "down season" and it just is a way for a sales manager to try to pump the troops up or conversely is a "crutch" to explain underperforming.

The moral of the story: if you want to have a lousy Summer or want to work less it is easy enough to rationalize yourself that it is slow season.

Also consider that "buyers" in every business will blame the season on why they can't buy now or haven't been in touch lately. If one of your regulars doesn't see you all Summer then when he does and you (in a friendly way) ask him about it and he gives you "kids & vacations & whatever" take it for what it is: an excuse. Don't take a couple of very similar sounding excuses and translate it into a "slow summer season." Heck the rest of the year the excuse is, "I'm just really jammed up at the office."

Now a fair question might be, "In general, are things slower than they have been in the past?" Lot's of people have suggested this since the economy has gone south. But don't call it seasonality.

My reason for asking this question was because I was actually planning on working a little harder this summer to reach a few personal goals. This includes travel.

I go to Chicago once a month and was trying to decide if keeping that schedule was wise during the summer months. The question itself was, for me, fairly innocuous.

I was just curious, that's all.

Thanks for the responses!

I think that is a good question ! In my area's , incall picks up in the summer and outcall slows down. In Fla summer pics up winter slows down. I really am thinking it would depend on where your at.

I think a good way to combat this is to tour. I didn't tour a lot but I ALWAYS made triple the money I'd make at home no matter what the season was. However, I too have heard that it is slow for some during the summer months. I think it all comes down to where you are located. I imagine that those up north hobby more in the summer time. Another reason some could see a drop in business is because of kids being home from school
