Travel requirement for MX TJ

Hello all,

Was planning on being in SD next week and maybe a few days in Tijuana. Wanted to know what the new requirements are for crossing:

1. Is covid tested needed for entering MX and returning to US by foot?

2. I have read you need to fill out the FMM form to enter which is fine have done that before but is there anything new about it?

Gov websites don't give any clare info. Thank you for you help.

1. by foot, no. no one ever checks or cares.

2. You can fill out FMM online and print it out. Hand it to the Mexican side officer when you cross the border. I am not sure if it changed since I went to Mexico first time in August. But all I did was filling in FMM online and printed it out. When I crossed the border, the officer looked at FMM and stamped on it and let me go.
Was down in TJ last week. Traveled by foot over the border and both ways there was no check for covid, neither vaccinations or tests. Didnt need FMM either but that might be random. 99% of people do still wear masks in TJ indoor and out. Also the return at Ped-East (the border when you are walking) has been very long so if you happen to have a Global Entry card you can cut hours off your return.

Thanks for the updated intel nip. On my last trip in May, I had my FMM filled out and in hand and it saved me 30$.

I hate the masks in general, but their great for walking around TJ and remaining incognito.
Also on my last trip I waited hours to get back across the boarder, I will have GE next time I go.

For a while there, they were forcing travelers to pay $30 for the six-month FMM even for short trips. They seem to have stopped that. Nowadays it is a crapshoot as to whether or not they even both with it at all. My last trip (Sept) I pre-printed the FMM and had it in hand when I arrived at the border. They were just waving people through after checking passports, but they saw I had an FMM in my hand so they made me wait for someone to come stamp and process it. Probably added a total of five minutes to my wait, but was still annoying that it took me longer to cross just because I had my paperwork. My next trip I am not going to show them the FMM unless they ask.

I will have GE next time I go. Originally Posted by jajake56
