Guns in an outcall

I have a question for you all, providers and hobbyists both. How do you feel about going to an outcall and the gentleman having a gun? Not that anything bad as happened to me, but I have been to a few OC where there has been a gun and it hasn't really bothered me as most people in TX has one. It was brought up in conversation with a friend and was told I should be more careful about it. Now the guns have never been like next to the bed or anything, and I really don't think the clients realized their gun was in plain sight and I chose not to make a big deal of it. Guys, how would you feel about a lady asking about it or bringing it up? Ladies, do you ask the gentleman to put up or ignore it? Just curious and would like some opinions/advice on this.

I don't mind guns and it is on my bucket list to learn how to shoot one one day maybe even own a small one in my home. As far as bringing them to outcalls/incalls does not bother me so long it is mainly for safety reason. With all the crazy people in the world I think people should know how to shot one and be responsible if they decide to own one.

No more alarming than kitchen knives.

Or Rottweiles. Or sports cars. To each their own, but I've always wondered how people who do fear guns manage to drive on open roads with sometimes hundreds of people operating high-velocity heavy machinery, many while inebriated or texting or playing Angry Birds. At least gun owners tend to be more careful because the laws holding them responsible are lot stricter than for drivers or guard dog owners.

I would say that if there's cause for alarm about an outcall from either party, it's there with or without firearms. If that's someone's bad omen, I'd wonder about their ability to do effective safety analysis.

As far as guns in an incall/outcall, I wouldn't be to concerned about it.

As for guns at an outcall. Concealed please. Why they are left in the open is stupid.

I know several gentlemen who carry concealed weapons and I do feel safer when we are out and about. Sump thin' about you Texas boys with your accents and guns - mmmmm! ( I think this is where Passion2015 usually chimes in with something along the lines of: "Don't you mean guys with guns, accents and MONEY?!?!?" *insert Aphrodite rolling her eyes*)

One of these gents is currently teaching me to shoot handguns (22 and 40 caliber). Because of my new real world career, I think it wise that I get a concealed hand gun license, as well.

If I DID see one, in plain sight at an outcall (I rarely go to a man's residence w/o heavy screening), I would start a conversation about his interest in firearms, and ask him to hide it while I am there.

hmmm for me personally if I unknowingly go to someone and they have a gun just laying out in the open and in absent minded way I would not take the money or return it in full then walk my ass right out of there. now if he does a full disclosure kinda thing pre-scheduling says hey I'm a gun owner i'm ok with that cause you know at least at that point it's not idk like a shocker. I understand wanting to protect yourself that's why i have a knife on me when i leave my house mostly because i'm afraid on being dragged in to the woods i have to walk right past to get to my house. knives i get and i've seen or notice lot of people with pocket knives. guns are a lot more serious weapon of choice because in my opinion they are rather impersonal.

in my mind the only people who have guns are
-anyone currently or retired from service (LE, the Military etc.)
-bad people who intend to threaten or harm others
-people who are afraid or have a reason to be afraid.
-or you're just country and growing up around gun is just part of the lifestyle and is really common place (i don't really count this one most because Austin is the city you actually have to leave the city limit to be in the country)

I don't really mind seeing guns at a private residence. The two times it has occurred, I was visiting a gentlemen out in the country and it didn't seem out of place. I mean a couple of shot guns in your trophy room out in La Grange looks very different than a riffle next to your bed in Westlake.

The part I don't get is: if you think the #2 people in your list have them, why it wouldn't be reasonable to have one. It's a sad commentary on society now that being prepared is equated to being scared.

It goes without saying that you're entitled to your own choices in the matter. That said, what do you mean by "laying out in the open"? One provider I visited had an sizable rifle and shotgun collection in a pair of large locked gun cabinets. I'm not a gun aficionado, but I complimented it and asked her about it because I like learning new things and I've dated avid shooters in the past. Now if someone just had a gun laying about, I might wonder a bit about their attention to safety, but I wouldn't presume any mal intent or paranoia.

I never do outcalls unless I'm traveling, but what if he had an extensive collection of swords (no pun intended) as I do?

Why would retired service members have any more need or use than the rest of the public? I'm not saying they don't. I'm just wondering why they wouldn't fall into one of your other categories.

In the early oughts I dated a state-ranked shooter, SoCal born and bred beach babe with brains. I love me some country gals, but there was nothing country about her. There are many reasons to own a gun, from competitive shooting to hunting to personal safety. I don't myself own one presently – I did when I lived in LA – but I think it behooves everyone who lives in a society where firearms are common to be at least rudimentarily proficient in their care and use. What concerns me is everyone who simply goes out and buys a gun without any training of any kind. They are a danger to themselves and others. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell from looking at someone if they've had any proper instruction, and I don't support mandatory gun licensing because I believe it imperils democracy to give government the power to deny gun ownership.
