ExposingJohns.com

Hi, is anyone aware of this site?

I got a text that I had been added to this site, it included an option to delete your profile which charges you from 200 to 400 dollars. Isn't this a way of extorsion or difamation?

Id like to know how they get that info but it's interesting none the less.
The most common method of data collection is for them to post an ad on BP. They shark the info when a mark responds.

This really does not qualify as an alert--moving to coed.

great insight, wallance. makes it even more important to research.

unless of course they're dumb enough to use pics of an instantly recognizable porn star like this one…

A hobbyist here got put on that (or one alike) website and they put a picture of him and everything. That's some BS there
There are some West Texas gents thrown up there now with pics grabbed off their Facebook page and their phone numbers. Someone needs to sue them into obliteration. I don't expect them to walk away from this money maker.

Can the website exposingjohns.com be sued for extortion? Or what steps can be taken to bring this website down?

They are based in India who are posting fake profiles under Craigslist. If a person sends a text message to one of those fake profiles, they'll take your info and it is then posted under exposingjohns.com. Once your profile is created, they will send a text message alerting you've been reported. They'll ask for a fee if you want your profile to be taken down or be exposed to the public.

Based on how they collect information and the process to have it removed. I'm certain it violates civil laws about defamation. The site hides behind an open forum we have no control over what other third parties posts.

I also noticed profiles {Staff edit- forbidden subject- CK} which violates COPPA. {Staff edit- forbidden subject- CK}

Answered 4 months ago. This sounds like a terrible scam for those affected. I did a whois on the domain and found that the web site is registered in India. You are not going to be able to go after them economically.

I suggest you go to https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#&panel1-1 and file a complaint with the FTC. I am sure others have done the same. While it might take some time, the FTC has the resources and the ability to go after a site in India - and will do so if they receive enough complaints.

Thanks for the info Mr. Deere.

There are settings on your Facebook account which allow people to search for your FB page using your telephone number. There are options which allow you to change these settings to make the search unavailable to the general public or you can remove your cell number from your FB account. Then there is the Google number opinion that many escorts and hobbyist use.
also all the mails scams that have happened on p411 and the many times they have been hacked I am sure they got some of there emails through there and no telling where else.
This thread should also be put on the national public forum so no hobbiest will fork out that money...

Not using a hobby phone is just asking for problems. I use ting.com because my bill is never over 12 dollars a month and I can burn the whole phone if I feel like it. Google voice also works. With whitepages caller id you can have instant full name and number and address sometimes on any cell phone that calls you. it works best on business guys that other people have saved to their phones with contact # and info... meaning it won't show you the chick that changes her # each week, but it will show up 90 percent of adult males that keep the same # for years.
Without a hobby phone you might as well give her your real name and address.
What john boy said.

Unfortunately all of us do not possess your intellect and intelligence. Some of us must learn as we go.

I was only sharing what I know about Facebook and the ability to search using a telephone number to access one's Facebook page. So that members will not end up being on websites like ExposingJohns.com.

I was not looking for a haha that's why you get dumbass comment or a critical analysis.
