Our government should be hanging it's head in shame over the treatment and salary of our teachers. It's a true tragedy. Sadly, less young people are considering a career in teaching. What will we do then?

Salary? I have many friends that are teachers with as much experience and education level as I have, and they make about (a few make more) than I do. Plus theirs is based on 10 months of work. And the benefits and retirement and job security is unparalleled compared to private sector.
A teacher friend told me of an opening this past year, (good suburban district), for a chemistry teacher at his high school, had over 100 applicants.
What will we do then? Peruse YouTube for very low cost, expert on-line tutoring especially in math and sciences. It's amazing what the technology is doing to make alternative education methods available.
