So about Donald Sterling....

Racism is not good and I don't support it. In fact I despise minority groups that are racist back i.e. NAACP and such. That being said, does anyone else believe that this guys first amendment right is being stepped on?? A private conversation in his own home? How many of us could get into deep shit over things we say in the comfort of our own homes? And if these guys playing on his basketball team really felt so strongly about it, would they not accept his filthy, racist money? I don't see anyone tearing up those paychecks. For a few million a year you can call me a beaner or whatever you want. Anywho, I want to hear some opinions. Am I way off base or does anyone have a similar though??

Strictly from a legal point of view, and nothing else, I hear in California both parties must know about recording such things. If true, the guy has legal bearing. Regardless his personal beliefs.

He might win in court but the one of public opinion has decided.
Sterling and the girl have claimed they tape their conversations so he can remember what they talk about. Apparently he forgets easily. So both parties did know. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Racism is almost as pitiful as reverse racism...just sayin...

He has the right to free speech. As a business partner in a very public business, he had the obligation to exercise that right judiciously. He did not. Just desserts.

First Mr Mayor, let me congratulate you on your upcoming appointment in Washington as secretary of something or other.

I dont remember if you are the gay one or the other one is, but if you are the gay one, great and kudos to Obama for reaching out to the gay community for this high profile appointment.

That said, a guy should be able to count on privacy as he rants and emotionally abuses his money grubbing side piece.
This will not be tried in the court of law - Its in his best interest to sell; otherwise he could be the owner of a team that is not a part of the association.
I personally believe many of us are missing the true dynamic at play in this story. It is to the family's advantage (Sterling's family) for him to be perceived "crazy as a shit house rat". There is a fight over the money, control over corporations, etc. Some feel his talk show tour was an attempt to apologize, but I feel it was a further attempt to get him to self-injure his reputation.

Of course, we all know I'm wrong...

Let me be the 2nd to congrats you Mr Mayor....here is another ploy by the Obama Admin. to reach out for the votes of special interest groups... AND I AM NOT saying you have NOT done a good job of cleaning up San Antonio... look at all the SW's you have busted... Life in SA is by far much better here now..FYI can I have a call back about my Police report I filed years ago...!! OK rant over...LOL

Back to Mr. Put your foot in your mouth.. the NBA is protecting its brand...its players they have too!!! siding with the Magic's, the Le Brons... hear any of the Spurs talking..NOPE.. Does Paula Dean ring a bell? Recorded or not.. he has owned the Clips for what 30+ years.. and made it pretty damn good ball club...
The Clippers didn't become revelant until they acquired Chris Paul; and that was because the NBA blocked a trade to the Lakers. LAC had seven top 10 picks since 2000; that hardly makes them a good ball club.

just my opinion

It's not really a free speech issue. It's a private organization with a contract that he signed. Free speech protects us from the gubment.

As far as what a monkey circus this has become, he's an 80 something year old man, who if you listen to the whole recording was baited in. If you actually listen to the whole tape he keeps referring to how others in the jewish community will perceive him. He may very well be prejudice (not racist, those are two different things) but a lot of it has to do with peer pressure and social on-lookers (based off what he says in the tapes)

Regardless, really who cares. If someone is racist/prejudice, don't pay it any attention and just move on. You only add fuel to the fire and inflame the whole situation. As long as there are humans roaming the earth there will be prejudice/racism. When it becomes more than just one's opinion, then step in, until then forget about it.
Who cares even if he screamed NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER he is about a thousand miles away and his life can't possibly effect yours. There's plenty of things right here in San Antonio to be concerned about, So why worry about a California jackass when y'all can't even handle two Austin jackasses (whispers and still looking) those two blew up this place like the two planes hittin the World Trade Center and all y'all could do was suck your thumbs and whine like little fucktards with shitty diapers.

The NBA is just like his mistress. They accepted his largess for 30 years while his money built the brand. Many times over the years he has shown what an ass he can be but now because of a recorded private convo they want him out. I'm betting his lawyers will see to it that his 80+ year old ass smiles all the way to the bank. The players did their jersey protest and went to work. Kudos. How many hateful things have you heard in your life and what punishment derived? This is the USA. Freedoms abound here. Even the freedom to be an ass!
