Clients wife calling me

ok guys and girls, need some opinons. A few days ago, a potential clients wife calls, I dont recognize the number so I dont answer. She leaves a message just saying "Hello, Hello". Since Im fairly new to the hobby, I return the call saying I missed a call from this number. She asks who is this, I say "this is (my phone number) who were you calling?" she says "oh, Im sorry, I was looking for Janie". I say, sorry wrong number. The next day my phone was ringing like crazy from that same number. My potential client texts and says his wife somehow found out and has MY number and for me not to answer. I guess this means no appt right? lol. Stay tuned. Of course I got good references on this client but have yet to see him.
I plan never to return calls from numbers i dont know.
So, from you married guys out there, should I see this guy after a few days or completely blow him off because of the drama or what would you have me do?
Let me hear from you girls too and your opinion on this situation.
well hazel, i would put him on a probationary status for a little while to let things calm, settle down with the drama between the client and his wife. The last thing you want is to have wife find out more about you and then place you in jeopardy. Play it safe. Some women can be very psycho and dont care about what happens. And please don't stop seeing married men becasue of this, well... at least until I have had the chance to spend some time with you. LOL.I may be wrong but the main thing is to be careful. This is just IMHO.

Even if you know the number, it may not be who you expect on the other end.

Something to consider: There is a good chance that the guy was being careless if his wife has reason to suspect him - not only suspects him, but discovered your number. That thought alone would give me pause in future dealings with him. (If the gentleman in question is reading this: Sorry brother, I'm not trying bust your balls. I'm just looking looking out for all of us.)
If I were you I would be hesitant about seeing this guy. For all you know he is being followed either by her, or a private detective. Or worse, the show "Cheaters".
Calling back strange numbers in your line of work is probably not a good idea without a voicemail that says call back.
Be careful out there.

He doesn't have a hobby number?

I use a forwarding number that on my "bill" looks like I'm calling myself (or checking voicemail)
hobbiest need to use Google voice imo

I've wondered about Google voice but with how Google records everything, I don't trust it enough to try it.

I'd recommend staying away for a long time - she already knows something is going on just based on her multiple phone calls, so she will only keep an even closer eye on him - now she's just looking for proof. You don't need that drama.

IMHO, You shouldn't cut him off completely just because of the crazy wife experience. Even though it's clearly his fault for not being more careful, you can't help but feel sorry for all involved, including him.

As mentioned earlier. Google Voice and Skype work great.
PPOV - Providers point of view.

Considering how it all played out, you handled it well. Lessons learned. An unknown number calls and if they don't leave a specific message, i.e. "This is Joe, I'd like to schedule, my number is blah blah...etc", then don't bother returning the call. If you call back and a female answers just say sorry wrong number.

Personally, I wouldn't see this client. Not worth the risk due to what Mr. Nasty said. Yes, there are some crazy women out there who feel they have nothing to lose if they suspect their men are cheating on them.

Hopefully the client learns from this experience as well.

I'd cut the umbilical cord and write that one off. To much drama potentially headed your way.

Google voice. Their ad's should read 'Saving one marriage at a time".
Ok...guys... You need some background.... My wife received an email yesterday from lasexymcallen@hotmail.com , in ENGLISH, saying " be careful darling, ask your husband who is HAZEL and giving away her phone number ! ... So there are just two possibilities, somebody has hacked Hazel's email or mine, what I know is that I ERASED all the messages as soons as I received them, so my theory is it must be HAZEL's email... In top of that, if somebody call you the day before the events and asked for Janie, that must have been somebody else wife/ girl, ...my theory will be proved if you keep getting other phone calls...from people related to your new clients... i recommend that you better change your email for security....
