June 6, 1944....

Today marks the 70th anniversary of Operation Overlord; also known as D-Day/the Invasion of Normandy. It marked one of the single largest military operations in history. Just think, the youngest (legal age) soldier back then would have been 18, making them 88 today! Sadly, much of the Greatest Generation won't be around for long, so take this opportunity (really, any moment) to thank those that served for their selfless service, and remember all those who lost their lives that day....

My grandfather missed June 6th by a day; got there the night before via C-47.
