50's or 60's era store in Houston - Looking for something for my Dad

Brooke Wilde's Avatar
Just wondering if anyone knows of a good "Oldies" ... 50's or 60's era store in Houston? Not like antiques or furniture or stuff like that ... but something cool and nostalgic I can get him for Fathers Day.

I have not had any luck on my own ... I googled, but came up empty.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Try a junk yard or a museum ...

You should buy him a hooker for Fathers Day....I'm sure the ole man would appreciate that much more than "nostalgia"....
Brooke, try Retropolis in the Heights (321 W 19th St); it has all kinds of cool vintage stuff from that time period. Good luck.

If you stroll around The Heights there are several vintage and antique shops with all sorts of neat stuff tucked away in corners, nooks, and crannies. I also like meandering around The Antique Gallery off 2920 in Spring and Thompson's Antique Center at Northwest Mall. Both are huge and have a lot of cool retro items from the 50's and 60's.

If he likes military items, you might consider a run down to Galveston and Colonel Bubbie's. This place has been a Strand landmark, but alas, will be closing later this year.

Good luck and a dandy Daddy's Day to your father, Brooke.

I think one of the shops in "downtown" Old Town Spring may be helpful.

I know there are some 'Vintage' clothing stores on Westhiemer, between Montrose & Woodhead.

When I said junk yard or museum, I have been working in The Heights for the past 6 months, both seem the same to me in that area.
