Taboo / bad taste 2 ask????

Ladies & Gentlemen,

First, let me apologize if this topic is inappropriate. I do not mean to be insensitive.

This question is directed toward everyone on here...

How often do you get tested? <You know what I mean.>

As a newbie here, I'm more than a bit curious about this.

Self-disclosure....I'm a mature fellow with high blood pressure & high cholesterol...so I get my blood checked every 6 months (with the 'standard' tests...).

Just curious; thanks for any replies,

Hal

Just ask for a full panel of test next time you get you levels checked, explain you are sexually active but safe but want to be sure. Honesty with the doc goes a long way.

If you can't be honest with your doctor and put your health and life in his hands, then something is wrong! All you need to do is tell your doctor you would like to be tested for whatever you want to be tested for - end of story.

There is no need to use any special code or be embarrassed, they see this every day. You're not the first person to ask for an STD/STI test.

There have been a few times I thought something was going on downstairs, and it ended up there wasn't! Once was a kidney infection, another time was kidney stones and they both can have pains that give symptoms that are similar to an STI.

Every six months or whenever you feel the need to have a test is a good time. Just tell your doctor what you want. People need to start taking their own health care into their own hands.

Yearly with my physical exam and then periodically as my hobby exposure warrants. Usually an additional 2 times a year. These I get done anonymously at anylabtest.

I go once a month. Just to be safe, plus my Doctor knows what I do :-)
The only thing to be ashamed about here is the puritanical taboos in this country which make simple things like sexual education and health care feel like they're crimes. Thank you, op, and other contributors, for being open and honest about something that should be as socially acceptable as talking about your receding hairline or that semi gross thick toenail fungus that we see advertisements about every time we turn around.

BTW, depending on how good you are, you can negotiate the price down, usually get $20 off.
