I spent a few years in marketing - taking a $3M/yr company to 40M/yr in 15 years. That may not be great - but it was pretty good considering it was privately owned. I rarely ran specials and few times I would close a location for remodeling for a week or two - to bring my customers a better product at the same price.

Now, I'm in straight up retail and we run specials and sales to bring customers in to buy more.

Does the OP not look for specials and sales when she shops, or does she insist on always paying full price, to help keep market prices up?

Maybe the OP might consider another marketing approach in the future something like
