How to get references

I am new to the forum. I came through a recommendation of one of my friends. However I keep on running into the same problem in trying to set up a meeting with the providers. "Please provide me with references." Well, it is hard to get a reference when I haven't been able to meet with anybody. And every provider always ask that same question so I'm basically stuck. I'm basically window shopping, can look but can't have. And using a guy friend to vouch for me doesn't work. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Look for the girls that say newbie friendly or you can open an iso thread.
